Carlton is a freestanding bookcase produced by the creative flair of Ettore Sottsass in 1981 for Memphis Milano, fully represents the programmatic intentions of the group: the desire to break the rules of good design with an irreverent, unorthodox and conscious spirit.
The forms of Carlton have a vaguely anthropomorphic character, as they symbolize the image of a man with raised arms and spread legs. Today, this bookcase has taken on a highly decorative function thanks to its design. In fact, the colors are the real highlight of this creation: bright and incredibly well matched.
